Your Surgery Roadmap:
Step-by-Step Guide

#1: Know Your Surgery

Have at least two large, flexible ice packs to help reduce swelling and pain. Rotate them for consistent cold therapy.

Step 2: Plan Ahead

Schedule your surgery and pre-op visit (3–4 weeks before) with your primary doctor. Get specialist clearances if needed and arrange for a recovery buddy to assist you for the first 3 days.

Step 3: Pre-Surgery Visit
(1–2 Weeks Before)

Meet the physician assistant to review expectations, medications, and your recovery plan.

Step 4: Arrival Time Call

You’ll receive a call the day before surgery confirming when to arrive.

Step 5: Surgery Day

Check in, meet your nurse and anesthesiologist, and speak with Dr. Rajaee before heading to the operating room.

Step 6: Post-Surgery Recovery

Wake up in recovery where nurses will manage your pain and monitor your safety.

Step 7: Get Moving Early

Begin walking with a walker within hours. Most patients go home the same day and need the walker for about a week.

Step 8: At-Home Care
(Week 1)

Rest, ice, and elevate daily. Take pain meds as directed. Hip patients: use your grabber and avoid extreme movements.

Step 9: Start Physical Therapy
(Week 1)

Begin home health or outpatient PT. For knee replacements, stay consistent and ice after sessions.

Step 10: Follow-Up
(2–3 Weeks Post-Op)

Visit the physician assistant to check your wound and overall progress.

Step 11: Follow-Up with Dr. Rajaee
(6 Weeks Post-Op)

Review X-rays, assess your recovery, and ask any questions you may have.

Step 12: Full Recovery
(Around 3 Months)

Return to most normal activities, but avoid high-impact exercises during this time.
